Math Course Placement Information:<\/h3>\n

<\/i><\/i><\/i><\/span> Course Placement Determined by SAT Scores<\/p>

\n

Students that earned an SAT-Math score of 580 or higher will be placed in a 100-level Math course based on their major requirements. This course is counts as 4 credits toward graduation requirements.<\/p>\n

SAT and ACT scores do not exempt students from the Calculus Placement Test if Calculus is required for your major. The only way to be exempt from the Calculus Placement Test is if you have college-level Pre-Calculus or Calculus credits.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n

<\/i><\/i><\/i><\/span> Course Placement Determined by ACT Scores<\/p>

\n

Students that earned an ACT Composite score of 26 or higher will be placed in a 100-level Math course based on their major requirements. This course is counts as 4 credits toward graduation requirements. A composite score of 26 or higher will also result in CRWT 102 course placement.<\/p>\n

ACT and SAT scores do not exempt students from the Calculus Placement Test if Calculus is required for your major. The only way to be exempt from the Calculus Placement Test is if you have college-level Pre-Calculus or Calculus credits.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n

<\/i><\/i><\/i><\/span> Course Placement Determined by ACCUPLACER Math Placement Test Scores<\/p>

Students that took the Math Placement Test can interpret their scores using the following. Please note, on your score report the scores will be listed under the Quantitative Reasoning, Algebra and Statistics section.<\/p>\n

    \n
  • 258 to 300: \u00a0Register for a college-level math course to satisfy General Education Requirement chosen from MATH 101, 104, 106, or 108<\/li>\n
  • 200 to 257: Register for MATH 022 (Transitional Math – required course; not for college credit)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n

    <\/i><\/i><\/i><\/span> Course Placement Determined by ACCUPLACER Calculus Placement Test Scores<\/p>

    \n

    Students that took the Calculus Placement Test can interpret their scores using the following. Please note, on your score report the scores will be listed under Advanced Algebra and Functions section.<\/span><\/p>\n

      \n
    • 280 to 300: \u00a0MATH 121 (Calculus I) or MATH 237 (Discrete Structures) or MATH 205 (Math Structures)<\/li>\n
    • 260 to 279:\u00a0MATH 110 (Pre-Calculus)<\/li>\n
    • 200 to 259:\u00a0MATH 024 (Elementary Algebra Topics)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Please Note:<\/strong> The Calculus Placement Test may only be taken if one or more of the following conditions is met:<\/p>\n

        \n
      1. The student achieved a Math Placement Test score of 200 or higher<\/li>\n
      2. The student\u2019s SAT-Math score is 580 or above (after to March 2016) or 560 or above (prior to March 2016)<\/li>\n
      3. The student\u2019s ACT Composite score is 26 or higher.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div><\/div>\n

        <\/i><\/i><\/i><\/span> Course Placement Determined by AP Calculus AB or BC Test Scores<\/p>

        \n

        Students who score 4 or 5 on AP Calculus AB receive credit for Calculus I and are not required to take the Calculus Placement Test.<\/p>\n

        Students who score 4 or 5 on AP Calculus BC receive credit for Calculus I and II and are not required to take the Calculus Placement Test.<\/p>\n

        Students who score 3 on AP Calculus AB or<\/strong> AP Calculus BC receive no credit but may register for MATH 121 Calculus I and are not required to take the Calculus Placement Test.<\/p>\n

        <\/i><\/i><\/i><\/span> Course Placement Determined by AP Precalculus Test Scores<\/p>

        Students with a score of 4 or 5 on the AP Precalculus test receive credit for Precalculus (MATH 110).<\/div>\n
        <\/div>\n
        Students with a score of 3 on the AP Precalculus test are exempt from the Calculus Placement Test and may enroll for Precalculus (MATH 110).<\/div>\n

        The Math placement test is a computer adaptive assessment of test takers\u2019 ability for selected mathematics content. Questions will focus on a range of topics including computing with rational numbers, applying ratios and proportional reasoning, creating linear expressions and equations, graphing and applying linear equations, understanding probability and set notation, and interpreting graphical displays. In addition, questions may assess a student\u2019s math ability via computational or fluency skills, conceptual understanding, or the capacity to apply mathematics presented in a context. All questions are multiple choice in format and appear discretely (stand alone) across the assessment. The following knowledge and skill categories are assessed:<\/p>\n

        • Ratio and proportional relationships \u0083\u0083Exponents<\/li>\n
        • \u0083\u0083Algebraic expressions<\/li>\n
        • \u0083\u0083Linear equations<\/li>\n
        • Linear applications<\/li>\n
        • Probability and sets<\/li>\n
        • Descriptive statistics<\/li>\n
