It&#8217;s also a great place to meet students with similar interests and have a lot of fun. The club engages in many activities including design competitions, field trips, community service, conferences, and many social events. They also exhibit and screen their work throughout the year in one of the many exhibition spaces and theaters in the School of Arts, Humanities, and Education. Twice in the last few years, a team of Creative Media Club students has won the prestigious Design Derby, a design competition among student teams from colleges across the state. The Creative Media Club always welcomes new members and creative ideas. WRPR is a student organized and operated, free-format radio station broadcasting from Ramapo College. The station was established in the mid-1970&#8217;s and received its call letters on October 9, 1979. WRPR currently has more than 100 students participating as DJs, Committee Members and Executive Board Members. WRPR can be heard on 90.3 FM in the Mahwah, New Jersey area, as well as on Ramapo College&#8217;s closed circuit television system on Channel 3 (campus events channel) and Channel 10 (live video feed from the studio). WRPR is also available via Webstream and the station&#8217;s musical mix is currently being broadcasted worldwide. RCTV provides members with hands-on experience in learning about the field of broadcasting. Students create both live and pre-recorded programming for the campus&#8217;s television station. Beyond broadcasting programming, RCTV hosts and sponsors events on campus, such as a weekly improv show in the spring and a yearly Karaoke bash. Students receive valuable music industry experience through the club\u2019s extensive activities, which include producing large scale live concerts, weekly open mike nights, music instructional workshops, and collaborating with the Music faculty on the presentation of the annual Les Paul Festival. The musical genres the club presents are diverse, ranging from indie rock and punk to jazz and EDM. RMC maintains its own inventory of musical instruments and sound equipment, and provides hands on opportunities for Music Production majors in the field of live audio engineering and recording. In addition, RMC maintains a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/rcnjmusicclub\/\">Facebook page<\/a> which acts as a way for students, alumni and faculty to share ideas about current music industry trends, student and alumni accomplishments, as well as job and internship opportunities. The club was founded in 2009 as a chapter of MEISA, the Music and Entertainment Industry Student Association. When the national MEISA organization was disbanded in 2012 the name was changed to Ramapo Music Club. Students either register for Ramapo Chorale as a 2-credit course (MUSI 126), or, participate as Choral Club members. The Chorale performs a wide musical mix with a special emphasis on contemporary music. The Ramapo choral ensembles tour annually \u2013 recent trips have included Austria, Costa Rica, Czech Republic, Estonia, the Philippines, Russia, and the Pacific Summer Music Festival in Guam. The Ramapo choral ensembles were the only U.S. choirs invited to the 2008 International Festival of Academic Choirs in the Czech Republic, where they won seven medals including gold. The 24-voice mixed ensemble performs throughout the region and has also earned a distinguished reputation in promoting global awareness and social justice. Among its credits, CantaNOVA was featured at the New York Times Center&#8217;s, Genocide: The Unbroken Promise of Never Again. In 2010, the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic presented CantaNOVA at Bohemian National Hall, performing Songs of Children, a cantata based on children&#8217;s poems from the Terezin concentration camp. The concert was sponsored by the United Nations. Take12 won a gold medal at the International Festival of Academic Choirs in competition with choirs from China, Russia, South Africa, and throughout Europe.<\/p>\n<p>Directed by Dr. Lisa Lutter (<a href=\"mailto:llutter@ramapo.edu\">llutter@ramapo.edu<\/a>)<\/p>\n<h3>Gospel Chorus<\/h3>\n<p>A performance based class introducing the vocal techniques and choral repertoire of gospel music, including contemporary, spiritual, and anthem styles. The chorus performs several times a semester on and off campus. Students will be taught both aurally and with notated sheet music to achieve a comprehensive and interactive aesthetic experience of the gospel tradition. A love for singing is a must. The Concert Band welcomes students from all academic disciplines and performs a wide variety of repertoire, especially works by contemporary composers. Students may take Concert Band as Intermediate Performing Ensemble for 2 credits (MUSI 364-02), or, may participate as club members. The Ensemble plays music from a range of Afro-Brazilian and Afro-Cuban traditions and regions, especially the Carnival parading music of Bahia, Brazil. The Visual Artists Society provides members with opportunities to express themselves creatively through visual art. Regular exhibitions of student work are held in the Photo Lounge in the Berrie Center. They sponsor workshops for artists and guest speakers and arrange field trips to other colleges and universities. The Visual Artists Society provides network for student artists and an outlet to share and develop ideas for future projects. The club holds weekly meetings to discuss upcoming plans, as well as \u201cCoffee &amp; Crit\u201d nights during midterms and finals to help members with ideas.
