Creative Media Club<\/h3>\n

For students interested in graphic design, filmmaking, advertising, and communications.<\/p>\n

The award winning Creative Media Club is the perfect place for those interested in graphic, Web, or interactive design, filmmaking, communication arts, and visual communications. It’s also a great place to meet students with similar interests and have a lot of fun. The club engages in many activities including design competitions, field trips, community service, conferences, and many social events. They also exhibit and screen their work throughout the year in one of the many exhibition spaces and theaters in the School of Arts, Humanities, and Education. Twice in the last few years, a team of Creative Media Club students has won the prestigious Design Derby, a design competition among student teams from colleges across the state. The Creative Media Club always welcomes new members and creative ideas. WRPR College Radio Station<\/h3>\n

Do you love radio like we love radio? WRPR is a student organized and operated, free-format radio station broadcasting from Ramapo College. The station was established in the mid-1970’s and received its call letters on October 9, 1979. WRPR currently has more than 100 students participating as DJs, Committee Members and Executive Board Members. WRPR can be heard on 90.3 FM in the Mahwah, New Jersey area, as well as on Ramapo College’s closed circuit television system on Channel 3 (campus events channel) and Channel 10 (live video feed from the studio). WRPR is also available via Webstream and the station’s musical mix is currently being broadcasted worldwide. RCTV (Ramapo College Television and Video)<\/h3>\n

Ever picture yourself working for CNN? RCTV<\/a> gives you a chance to try it out – or at least see what happens behind the scenes. RCTV provides members with hands-on experience in learning about the field of broadcasting. Students create both live and pre-recorded programming for the campus’s television station. Beyond broadcasting programming, RCTV hosts and sponsors events on campus, such as a weekly improv show in the spring and a yearly Karaoke bash. Anyone interested in any element of television production – acting, directing, producing, editing – or anyone looking for a creative and fun time – is welcomed and encouraged to join. Communication Arts Honor Society<\/h3>\n

The Communication Arts honor society, is part of the internationally recognized Lambda Pi Eta, the official honor society<\/em> of the National Communication<\/em> Association. In order to be considered for membership, a student must maintain a 3.5 or higher average in his or her overall GPA.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n

The Literature Club is a campus club for students who are interested in literature in its many manifestations. The Ramapo Music Club<\/a> is a vibrant student organization that is dedicated to creating an active music scene on the Ramapo campus. Students receive valuable music industry experience through the club\u2019s extensive activities, which include producing large scale live concerts, weekly open mike nights, music instructional workshops, and collaborating with the Music faculty on the presentation of the annual Les Paul Festival. The musical genres the club presents are diverse, ranging from indie rock and punk to jazz and EDM. RMC maintains its own inventory of musical instruments and sound equipment, and provides hands on opportunities for Music Production majors in the field of live audio engineering and recording. In addition, RMC maintains a Facebook page<\/a> which acts as a way for students, alumni and faculty to share ideas about current music industry trends, student and alumni accomplishments, as well as job and internship opportunities. The club was founded in 2009 as a chapter of MEISA, the Music and Entertainment Industry Student Association. Ramapo Chorale<\/h3>\n

Ramapo Chorale welcomes singers of all levels of ability without audition. Students either register for Ramapo Chorale as a 2-credit course (MUSI 126), or, participate as Choral Club members. The Chorale performs a wide musical mix with a special emphasis on contemporary music. The Ramapo choral ensembles tour annually \u2013 recent trips have included Austria, Costa Rica, Czech Republic, Estonia, the Philippines, Russia, and the Pacific Summer Music Festival in Guam. The Ramapo choral ensembles were the only U.S. choirs invited to the 2008 International Festival of Academic Choirs in the Czech Republic, where they won seven medals including gold. Ramapo Chorale rehearses on Monday and Thursday at 6 pm in Berrie Center 216.<\/p>\n

CantaNOVA<\/h3>\n

CantaNOVA performs mostly a cappella and contemporary music but also enjoys other styles including classical, jazz and more. The 24-voice mixed ensemble performs throughout the region and has also earned a distinguished reputation in promoting global awareness and social justice. Among its credits, CantaNOVA was featured at the New York Times Center’s, Genocide: The Unbroken Promise of Never Again. In 2010, the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic presented CantaNOVA at Bohemian National Hall, performing Songs of Children, a cantata based on children’s poems from the Terezin concentration camp. The concert was sponsored by the United Nations. Most recently, CantaNOVA was featured at the Pacific Summer Music Festival.<\/p>\n

Skylark is a girl group of 12-16 voices and performs mostly contemporary music, especially works by female composers and artists. Skylark is a favorite on campus and also performs in Manhattan and abroad.<\/p>\n

Take12<\/h3>\n

Take12 is a 12 voice men’s group that performs mostly contemporary a cappella music but also enjoys mixing it up with diverse styles. Take12 won a gold medal at the International Festival of Academic Choirs in competition with choirs from China, Russia, South Africa, and throughout Europe.<\/p>\n

Gospel Chorus<\/h3>\n

A performance based class introducing the vocal techniques and choral repertoire of gospel music, including contemporary, spiritual, and anthem styles. The chorus performs several times a semester on and off campus. Students will be taught both aurally and with notated sheet music to achieve a comprehensive and interactive aesthetic experience of the gospel tradition. A love for singing is a must. No prior choral experience is necessary.<\/p>\n

The Brazilian Latin Percussion Ensemble, directed by Amarildo Costa, is open to all Ramapo students, with no experience necessary to join. In weekly rehearsals, students learn all the instruments and develop their musicianship at their own speed. The Ensemble plays music from a range of Afro-Brazilian and Afro-Cuban traditions and regions, especially the Carnival parading music of Bahia, Brazil. AYO strives to act as a catalyst for students to \u201cget their feet wet\u201d in whatever aspect of theater production they choose. From acting and directing, to designing and technical theater, we offer a safe environment for passionate students to learn and grow. We encourage student collaboration and mentorship in order to help facilitate a stimulating, goal-oriented atmosphere for student to thrive in their selected theatrical craft. We sponsor a plethora of events including 24 hour playfests, Caf\u00e9 Adlers, Workshops, Staged Readings, our own full-fledged student production and also coordinate Ramapo\u2019s very own Improv Troupe, The Fooligans. Devised Theater Ensemble<\/h3>\n

Devised theatre emerges from a collaboration of artists, through a process of creative play, using a variety of stimuli. The mission of The Devised Theatre Ensemble is to foster collaborative, creative, original, and ensemble-based theatrical work. The Devised Theatre Ensemble seeks to make theatre more innovative and accessible to a wide range of students who would like to explore a non-hierarchical, highly physical, and collective form of theatre. In addition, The Devised Theatre Ensemble seeks to provide a home network for theatre and performance enthusiasts and opportunities for students to collaborate on theatre projects outside and addition to the Theatre Program offerings at Ramapo College. From conducting and hosting performance and theatrical workshops, to attending and discussing theatre performances, touring the spaces in which such performances take place, attending conferences and festivals, and performing original material, The Devised Theatre Ensemble will make significant contributions to the artistic and cultural life at the college<\/p>\n

The society has over 350,000\u00a0members, with about 860 chapters across the country. At\u00a0Ramapo, we induct history majors who have taken at least four\u00a0history courses at Ramapo and have earned at least a 3.5 GPA\u00a0in them.<\/p>\n

Looking for a network for your art and ideas? The Visual Artists Society provides members with opportunities to express themselves creatively through visual art. Regular exhibitions of student work are held in the Photo Lounge in the Berrie Center. They sponsor workshops for artists and guest speakers and arrange field trips to other colleges and universities. The Visual Artists Society provides network for student artists and an outlet to share and develop ideas for future projects. The club holds weekly meetings to discuss upcoming plans, as well as \u201cCoffee & Crit\u201d nights during midterms and finals to help members with ideas.
